predictions week 4

Week 4-

CHI over DET
[I'd be very surprised if Det keeps up.]

CIN over CLE
[Anderson will look worse than Quinn. Ratliff may get a shot.]

HOU over OAK
[Although closer than you might think. I don't think Schaub will be as effective against this defense]

IND over SEA
[no comment]

JAX over TEN
[Vince Young enters about now, or after the game.]

NYG over KC
[I really like the Giant receivers]

BAL over NE
[My risk pick. Baltimore looks too good overall. Patriots seem psychologically disadvantaged despite their talent. Also injuries.]

TB over WAS
[Possible risk pick. I think Josh Johnson might be a surprise factor.]

BUF over MIA
[I don't think Henne is quite ready yet. It's about time for the Bills to look as good as they did in their loss in week 1.]

NO over NYJ
[I'd be shocked if the Jets won. The Saints ground game is as good as their passing game.]

DAL over DEN
[This should be obvious, but somehow Orton will get hammered in the last second by Ware, fumble into Moreno's arms, and he runs it in for the last second TD to put the up by one point, game over. Possibly. But I'll say Dallas barely stops it.]

SF over STL
[Obviously.]

PIT over SD
[I think PIT starts getting back on track now. Tomlinson won't be 100%]

MIN over GB
[Packers have been overachieving. Favre is a master of will power throughout his career. I think Favre will do more in this game then he will in all the games except for the next GB match up.]

record

11-5 this week I'm doing better than most of the experts so far this season.

Predictions Week 3

1. BAL over CLE
[It shouldn't even be close.]

2. WAS over DET
[I think this game will be close. I don't think the Redskins are really that good. Stafford is slowly improving. As is the rest of the team.]

3. HOU over JAX
[I think Schaub will have another great game. This game should be close.]

4. ATL over NE
[Yep. Falcons look very strong whereas the Patriots have looked very strong sometimes.]

5. GB over STL
[Poor Rams.]

6. NYG over TB
[Leftwich will prove he's tough in a loss again]

7. NYJ over TEN
[Close, and only because the strengths of TEN are nullified by the Jets defense. I don't think the Jets are really the better team.]

8. KC over PHI
[This could go either way, but the Eagles have more important injuries.]

9. MIN over SF
[Time for the 49ers to look even more human.]

10. NO over BUF
[Brees will have a tougher time, but shall prevail.]

11. CHI over SEA
[Especially with the Hasselbeck injury]

12. CIN over PIT
[My risk pick. A weaker secondary may help Palmer achieve a pro bowl-like week for once.]

13. DEN over OAK
[Two bad team. Orton will fumble the ball into Brandon Marshall's hands who will run it in for the last TD needed for the win.]

14. MIA over SD
[Close game. Another risk pick of mine.]

15. IND over ARI
[Colts secondary will nullify Warner's ability even if he completes most of his passes.]

16. DAL over CAR
[It will be close.]

record

Total: 23-10
Week 2: 10-6
Week 1: 13-4

Week 2 Predictions

1. ATL over CAR
[much closer than it may seem. I think Delhomme will somewhat rectify himself, but still lose.]

2. MIN over DET
[Destruction. Stafford three more INTs in his learning process. Peterson 180 yards again. Favre will play it safe.]

3. GB over CIN
[I think it will be close. However, I see Palmer getting sacked and fumbling too often]

4. ARI over JAX
[Cardinals will look more like they did last year. I see a blow out.]

5. KC beats OAK
[Close game, I think Croyle will play and make it a hard decision when Cassel comes back. If Cassel plays, I see Oak possibly winning.]

6. NE beats NYJ
[I think Sanchez will look like a rookie. Patriots will win easily.]

7. NO beats PHI
[This is whether or not McNabb is back or not. If Kolb is in it will be a blowout.]

8. HOU beats TEN
[This will be close. The DL will get to the immobile Collins.]

9. WAS beats STL
[This won't be a blowout, only because the Redskins offense isn't designed to do that to anyone.]

10. BUF beats TB
[I think it will be close. Leftwich will look like a winner with an 0-2 record.]

11. SEA beats SF
[Probably not an interesting game.]

12. PIT beats CHI
[Demolished. Cutler will throw INTs. Steelers may not necessarily score a lot, but they will score.]

13. DEN beats CLE
[In overtime, on another Orton miracle play.]

14. BAL beats SD
[No, LT will hurt them. Flacco is on the ascent.]

15. DAL beats NYG
[I see a sloppy game won by field goals. Folk has the stronger leg.]

16. IND beats MIA
[Close game. Two accurate QBs. Similar running talent.]

Week 1

So far I'm: 13-3 on my predictions.

QB situations for each team:

Titans: Collins looked pretty good most of the game. I constantly underestimate him. I think he deserves to be the starter, as much as I want Young to play.

Steelers: This may be the year Roethlisberger starts putting up a ton of passing numbers, which means also 20 interceptions in a winning season.

Dolphins: no comment

Falcons: no comment

Chiefs: I think Croyle won the #2 job. Possibly #1 if Cassel doesn't play somewhat similarly in week 2.

Ravens: Flacco is a passer. I'm glad the team realized that.

Eagles: Now is Kolb's chance to make Vick unnecessary. If he doesn't fill in well until McNabb gets back he may never have a chance again.

Panthers: I'm glad that they're going to give Delhomme one more chance. It may be due to the fact that Josh McCown is now out for the season. Nevertheless, any Free Agent they sign can be nearly assured a chance to start soon. Jeff Garcia. Testaverde!?

Broncos: Orton's game is the epitome of his playing still. That is, not very well, but then getting lucky and winning. If it works, it works.

Bengals: Carson Palmer has much more work to do. He's throwing these terrible short passes for losses.

Vikings: Favre looks 5 years older than last year and playing like he knows it, which is his best trait right now. Very great decoy. Glad they signed him.

Browns: Quinn had a TD called back. He'll get better.

Jets: My prediction is that Sanchez throws about 18 tds and 18 ints this year, and the Jets go about 10-6.

Texans: Schaub constantly underwhelms.

Jaguars: no comment

Colts: no comment

Lions: Stafford might have one of those 10td 30int seasons. He showed a little potential. I just want him to be better than Sanchez eventually.

Saints: Brees could have had 8 TDs. It's no fun for Brees when he's winning.

Cowboys: Romo's stats are deceiving. He was a lot sloppier than the 140 rating admits.

Bucs: Leftwich is one of the toughest people I ever saw. He wants to play, he wants to win, he'll die if he must, but he'll stay in the game.

49ers: Shaun Hill is very boring to watch

Cardinals: Warner......

Redskins: Campbell is not the answer

Giants: Manning has the WRs he needs. He'll be fine.

Rams: no comment

Seahawks: no comment

Bears: Cutler needs better WRs or he'll have 25 ints.

Packers: Rodgers disappointed me.

Bills: Edwards looks like he's finally on his way to being the best Bills QB since Jim Kelly. The team looked great as well despite the loss.

Patriots: Brady was rusty at first, before turning into Brady at the end of the 4th quarter. I expect him to pass for about 4,000 yards and 35 TDs this year.

Chargers: Rivers was not Rivers in week 1. A big reason why the Raiders almost won.

Raiders: JeMarcus Russell still isn't ready, but I think he should play every game this year and let the Raiders decide what to do with him next year. He had a really nice block at one point in the game. He's huge, he shoved a defender twice until he went out of bounds and then he bull rushed another one.

Week 1 Predictions

1. PIT beats TEN
[Collins has a horrible game. Cries for Young begin.]

2. ATL beats MIA
[close game, with Turner rushing for 200 years]

3. BAL beats KC
[Cassel plays, but not very well]

4. PHI beats CAR
[close game, lots of running from both teams]

5. CIN beats DEN
[Destroys them, Palmer back to normal. Orton is ineffective while playing partially injured.]

6. MIN beats CLE
[Destroys them, Favre puts up a good showing. Quinn plays moderately well despite not putting up points.]

7. HOU beats NYJ
[Sanchez plays like a rookie. Schaub puts up numbers.]

8. IND beats JAX
[close game]

9. NO beats NO
[Demolished, but Stafford outplays Sanchez for week 1. Brees well on his way to breaking records.]

10. DAL beats TB
[Destroys them. Leftwich sacked at least 7 times.]

11. ARI beats SF
[Sloppy game.]

12. NYG beat WAS
[Close game. Campbell outplays Manning, but still loses.]

13. SEA beat STL
[It won't be too close. I predict both QBs get hurt at some point in the game.]

14. GB beats CHI
[Large victory. Cutler starts off rusty. Rodgers throws 3 tds at least.]

15. NE beats BUF
[Destroyed the old 2007 way.]

16. SD beats OAK
[Almost an upset. I think it will be close. Oakland offense will show some promise for the future.]

Free Agents (in approx. order of ability):

Jeff Garcia

John David Booty
[Shows promise. If he hadn't been on the Vikings he wouldn't have been cut.]

Chase Daniel
[UFA, outplayed all other Redskins QBs in phenomenal preseason.]

J.P. Losman
[set to be star in UFL]

Cleo Lemon
[probably the most ready ready veteran]

Richard Bartel
[Bartel being cut by the Browns is surprising!]

Joey Harrington

Quinn Gray

Damon Huard
[Isn't athletic, but was SF best QB when he was cut. Excellent backup.]

Brock Berlin

Rhett Bomar

Adam DiMichele
[UFA, played one excellent preseason game for Eagles]

Anthony Wright

Marques Tuiasosopo

Gus Frerotte

Brook Bollinger

Jeff Rowe

Matt Baker

Brian Brohm

Andrew Walter

Hunter Cantwell

Ingle Martin

Rudy Carpenter

Chris Pizzotti
[I think he'll become a star in another league and comeback strong]

Drew Henson

Brett Basanez

Tyler Palko

Alex Brink

Drew Willy

Andre Woodson
[Once promising QB hasn't even had a good series yet]

Jamie Martin

Mike Reilly

Todd Boeckman

D.J. Shockley
[might be the fastest QB, but had a 12 rating in a full preseason of action]

Brad Johnson
[practically retired since 2004 even though he played]

Jeff George
[involuntarily retired]

Vinny Testaverde
[retired, distant option]

Preseason Over

With the preseason over here are a few random things and some of my thoughts:

- Jaguars definitely need a better backup QB. Todd Bouman threw the most passes in the
preseason (80) and barely completed half of them for a 69 rating.
- On the other hand, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Bills backup, threw almost as many passes and completed
almost 68% of his passes.
- Richard Bartel might kick Brett Ratliff off the Browns. He came out of nowhere and went 15 of
18 on passes, 107 rating. Ratliff was marvelous last year in the preseason, but this year he
was bad enough to justify being cut.
- AJ Feeley played well enough that someone should trade for him. I think the Jaguars should
think about that. Possibly the Patriots.
- Matt Schaub completed 76% of his passes.
- Michael Vick didn't throw many passes, but did complete 73%. His rating was a 48. Averaged 3 yards a pass and threw an INT.
- Matt Leinart had the most yards with 507.
- Aaron Rodgers led with 6 TDs (0 Ints) and he didn't even play the last week.
- David Carr played like a 1st round, 1st overall pick.
- Kyle Orton and Matthew Stafford each had 4 Ints.
- Damon Huard was cut by SF despite having a 125 rating in the preseason.
- Mark Brunell had 4 passes for over 40 yards.
- Joey Harrington was sacked 9 times.

Aaron Rodgers GB
David Carr NYG
